Excursion Heldenberg
September 18 2008

The excursion starts at 16:00 (4 pm) and will end at about 23:00 (11 pm).

© VIAS - Vienna Institute for Archaeological Science   Heldenberg was the venue of the Provincial Exhibition 2005 of the Province of Lower Austria. VIAS - Vienna Insitute for Archaeological Science curated an exhibition about neolithic circular ring ditch systems (so-called "Kreisgrabenanlagen") and reconstructed one of these monuments and a house of the Lengyel culture. Circular ring ditch systems are the oldest monumental buildings in Europe, dating to the Middle Neolithic (4800-4500 BC). The museum and archaeological park has been visited by some 260.000 persons in 2005 and is open to the public since then.

We will visit the museum and the archaeological park, followed by a reception.
